Spring term newsletter 2 2018
Welcome back to preschool. We hope that you and the children had an enjoyable half term break.
Please do not forget to name all items of clothing and any other belongings that your child may bring in to pre-school. Â Preschool is not liable for any personal items. As the weather is still cool, please ensure your child has outdoor winter clothing, i.e. warm waterproof coat, hat, gloves, scarf, and wellies (as necessary). Please put in your childâ€™s bag spare jogging bottoms/leggings etc. We ask that parent/carers please continue to bring in donations for snack/tissues this ensures we keep costs down, and funds are used for resources for the children.Â
Please remember that childrenâ€™s lunch boxes should contain only healthy foods. The reason for this guidance is in accordance with the governmentâ€™s healthy eating plan with a balance of protein/carbohydrate foods. Schoolâ€™s request for no sweets in lunch boxes. The pack lunches are stored at ambient room temperature, so you are welcome to place a cool pack in your childâ€™s lunch if you wish. We ask please that you do not pack hot/warm foods in your childâ€™s pack lunch. This is due to food hygiene, hot food should not be consumed if kept at ambient temperature for more than two hours, and cold food is considered safe to be eaten if stored at ambient room temperature for up to four hours.
Your childâ€™s key person is always available for you to discuss any queries and welcome any contributions you may have from home to help us be informed of your childâ€™s current interests or achievements, or of things that they do not enjoy as this will help us to plan their learning experiences. These contributions can be made verbally to the key person, in note form, a photograph or it may just be a picture they have drawn or coloured. Now that we use â€œtapestryâ€ you can upload information on your account.
Â Information regarding 30hours funded children
Please could parents/carers reapply for their funding before their end date, and must be done before their â€œgrace periodâ€ starts. If re-applications are done in the grace period, they are not valid and a re-application has to be made, which can result in parents paying for sessions, as we will not get the funding. If you have any queries regarding this, please speak to Mrs Lynn.
World book day, and St Davidâ€™s day â€“ Thursday march 1st
Children can come dressed up as a character / book character of their choice on Thursday 1st march and/or Friday 2nd march as you wish. Children may also bring in a book of their choice (named please) for us to share.
Motherâ€™s day 11th March, St Patrickâ€™s Day 17th March
We will include these events within our curriculum and activities. If there are other events which we have not mentioned which you feel are significant, please speak to a member of staff.
This half term, the children have been particularly interested in construction/building developments, and animals. We have supported this by making a â€œbuilding site â€œ on one of our large wall displays, having â€œbuildingâ€ outdoor and indoor play activities , animal beds, toys , food bowls etc. set up for the children to enjoy. We are pleased to inform you that some of the team from â€œpets at homeâ€ will be visiting us on Wednesday 7th march at 10am. They will be bringing a variety of animals including rabbits, insects, lizards etc. If you have any comments/concerns regarding this please speak to Mrs Lynn or Mrs Wilson. The children will have opportunity to handle animals safely if they wish, and of course health and hygiene for the children will be paramount.
This half term we have also celebrated and taken part in â€˜Chinese new yearâ€™ activities.
Easter â€œstay and playâ€
We break up for Easter on Wednesday 28th March. From Monday 26th till Wednesday 28th march, we will have â€œstay and playâ€. You are welcome to stay with your child, be it for just key group, part of your childâ€™s session or all of the session e.g. your childâ€™s sessions will be as normal for these three days, but we will also be doing Easter themed activities . If you have any questions about this, please speak to your childâ€™s keyperson, Mrs Lynn or Mrs Wilson.
Upcoming events and dates
Monday 16th April â€“ return to preschool after Easter break
Tempest photography â€“ Wednesday 25th April, 9.30am â€“ 1pm. This opportunity is open for all children, and will be a normal preschool session. For those children that normally attend a Wednesday morning, they will have their photo taken at some point in the session. If you do not wish for your child to have a sitting, or you wish to pop in/ bring a sibling etc. please speak to a member of staff. If your child does not attend this Wednesday session, you may still bring them in for a sitting. We ask that you will have to stay with your child at all times, and that the sittings will be on a first come first served basis. We appreciate your patience as you may have to queue and wait for your sitting. If you have any queries regarding this, please speak to a member of staff.
Monday 7th may â€“ may day bank holiday â€“ there will be no preschool sessions
Friday 25th may â€“ Whitsun half term break, return Monday 4th June.
Please remember to look at our outside/inside information boards, and our website/face book page for information. Please feel free to come and talk to staff when you wish , if you wish to make an appointment to speak to your childâ€™s keyperson, stay and play with us , volunteer your help etc. we welcome everyoneâ€™s input and support so please donâ€™t hesitate to talk, email or ring us . When you receive your notification of your childâ€™s school place, can you please let a member of staff know which school your child will be going to. This is so we can organise transition visits.
Wednesday 11th July- Sports afternoon.
We will hold a sports afternoon for all the children to attend. Start time will be 1.45pm and we will finish at 3.05pm as normal.
Volunteers/student placements. Preschool will be having students from schools and colleges throughout the term; we also have volunteers. Please be assured in the interest of safe-guarding, any person who is not a member of staff will not be allowed to be left alone with the children.
