Newsletter 3 Spring Term 2016
Dear Parents/ Carers,
Welcome back to pre-school. This newsletter is to update you with a few forthcoming events for this term.
The children and all their relatives enjoyed our Christmas concert and was overwhelmingly supported, thank you all very much. Fund raising Event Our committee coffee morning with a visit from Father Christmas was again well supported thank you. We raised £450.99All monies raised go towards new resources for the children.
Please do not forget to name all these items of clothing and any other belongings that your child may bring in to pre-school. Please, please name all your child’s possessions. Preschool cannot be held liable for any personal items.
Thank you to those parents who have contributed healthy snacks and boxes of tissues. These donations are always gratefully received and help us to keep our costs low so please do continue. The children particularly enjoy foods such as bread, toast, crackers and crumpets with various spreads such as cheese, jam or marmite. Other ideas include fruit, carrots, breadsticks, dips, raisins and sweet or savoury biscuits.
Please remember that children’s lunch boxes should contain only healthy foods. The reason for this guidance is in accordance with the government’s healthy eating plan and school’s request for no sweets in lunch boxes.
Your child’s key person is always available for you to discuss any queries and welcome any contributions you may have from home to help us be informed of your child’s current interests or achievements, or of things that they do not enjoy as this will help us to plan their learning experiences. These contributions can be made verbally to the key person, in note form, a photograph or it may just be a picture they have drawn or coloured.
For those parents who pay for sessions, your bills will now be emailed to you. Can we remind all parents that if your contact details change please inform us.
Curriculum – We would like to invite parents/carers to join your key person in key group time, or to just stay and play. Children enjoy having family members visit the setting and join in; it also enables you to take part in key group time which have key learning objectives linked to children’s next steps. Please talk to your key person if you would like to come and join in.
In accordance with the EYFS we will be following the interests of the children to inform planning.
Personal Social and Emotional Development-We will be concentrating on helping the children with their independent skills, including putting their own coats on washing hands, pouring drinks, and tidying up. We are working with a project called KYRA which has a focus on children being involved in taking the lead in their learning and grow in confidence, build friendships and work collaboratively together. Our focus is on tidy up time, we have colour coordinated the play areas, children are chosen to tidy up an area and they in turn choose some children to help them tidy that area; this is done with adult support. We will also be looking at different cultures and celebrating Chinese New Year week commencing 8th February. If anyone has items relating to a special festival then please bring them into preschool.
Communication and Language-The children will be able to develop their listening skills during circle times through story, song and rhyme. We regularly discuss the weather and changing seasons. Our regular visits to the local library are always enjoyed and we plan to continue these this term.
Physical Development- There is a large range of outdoor and indoor equipment to practice on and challenge different movements. The staff and children often play group games, music and movement and dance together. There will be many activities and opportunities where they can practice their manipulative skills too such as cooking, play dough, painting, drawing and musical instruments.
Our weekly planning is always displayed on the Pre-school notice board by the office door. There will occasionally be messages to parents on the mobile notice board too so don’t forget to look out for these. If you have any queries regarding the planning or themes please ask Mrs Lynn or Mrs Wilson.
